I visited musicandmuffins twitter but it doesn't have anything on it, so i checked out her art website www.musicandmuffins.deviantart.com the idea of the stills from the videos is an idea I may use for my CD cover or advertisement in the magazine.

I continued to look through this persons art work and really like there quirky style

This image doesn't include colour but is so busy it doesn't need to, this art work is skecthy and gives me ideas for the all three aspects of my project.



This is my favourite image I have seen so far its imaginative, includes colour and black and white bold lines. The style and characters are int resting and different. I am going to use this as inspiration in all three aspects of my project. I will also research more on the devian art website for other inspiring images when I research for my magazine advertisement and CD packaging.


Musicandmuffins has inspired me in different ways. I love the bold outlined, skecthy drawings with splashes of messy colour of symbolic items. Although there are aspects I feel are not to my taste. These aspects are the fact that all the songs which musicandmuffins produce videos of are all about love and i feel this is not a road I wont to go down. I wish to cover a different issue which my target viewer can relate to. I want to incorporate more detail and movement into my videos by including different medias such as rippings from magazines, photographs, pictures and maybe sequins and more colourful in genral. Although the simplistic idea is still something I want to include, I will experiement with these aspects to see what direction I am going to go in.
A massive thing that musicandmuffins and the other few animations I have looked at is that they all include all of the words. Once I have decided on a song I will pick out the key words which the audience can relate to and maybe incorporate them.

I am going to research more animations to gather different ideas.

musicandmuffins Kate Nash.

I like this animation as it is slightly different from the others as in incorporates different aspects. The bits that jumped out at me were;
- at the very beginning i really like the scrolled messy writing. I am going to try out different writing styles.
- 0.29 i love the way the animation changes to the beat of the music, the girls facial expression is particularly good, i wish to incorporate this into my animation.
- 1.21 the speech bubble, i like this idea although i don't want to have all the key words i may just use ones that are important
- 1.28 I'm not over keen on the whole clip being a solid photograph although i may try to blend photographs into my animation. I will have to experiment.
- right at the end of the clip i like the very fast pace editing, i will experiment with speed of my clips in editing.



Kate Nash. Birds animation, more ideas

Here i have used TubeChop to cut the YouTube animation down to the section that I really like. The introduction is very clear, with the image starting plan then colour and other images appears gradually.



This is another animation of Kate Nash's Birds

I am going to experiment with the techniques used in this video i have cropped 3 sections from the video of clips that incorporate great ideas.

The first one is of the bus moving along the bottom of the page and the letters turning red. This could be a connotation of danger or passion.



This second clip is slighlty longer. I really like the different colour mini hearts in the shape of a large heart, the star clip as i would also like to experiment with different colour backgrounds. Also the leave falling through the writing.



The last clip of this video is a very short clip, i just really like the LOVE letter appearing on the screen one by one, and disapearing.



Different animations

LILY ALLEN

This animation is by Evelien and Sanne on YouTube I used TubeChop to edited it to a shorter section the bits that inspirer me are
- the opening writing style, its girly and pretty
- 0.20 the hearts turning around the house
- 1.05 musical notes apearing, colourful. Repeated later on
- 1.20 the writing

These apspects are very inspiring i will take the ideas and experiment with them.




Lily Allen, Stop Motion

Created by Moran Shaham using cuttings from magazines and colourful paper, this video is extremly random which is not what I am going for although I like the use of materials my faviourate aspects are;

- 0.10 the cut out of a person
- 0.38 random images
- 0.47 the way that you see the hands creating the image.

musicandmuffins Kate Nash. Nicest Thing

I love this song although it is very sad, i might want to produce something slightly happier!
The bits which are my favourite are;

- type of writing at the beginning and end and the way it says the song, CD and production
- 0.35 the bee and the bbuuzzz lettering
- 0.56 the black outlined rainbow
- 1.18 the way the to drawn earths turn round
- 3.21 the reflections of the stick women and men, gives a sense of lighting

I particular love the movement of the earths turning round and this is something i want to bring into my stop motion music video, more movement that the majority of the musicandmuffins videos.



Kate Nash Foundations Music Video
I have looked at one of Kate Nash's official music videos as I am considering producing a stop motion for one of her songs. This video has stop motion in it although the majority of it is just normally filming. I love the blend of stop motion animation with another aspect of film even though i do not want to include average filming i don't believe. The stop motion doesn't seem to be so significant at the beginning although as the film processes you can see that these clips are in fact very important it the story of the song.
- 0.50 dinosaurs turning around
- 1.11 a blue and white sock come together, and later separate, i may try this idea of using random items i particular like the movement of the material
- 2.00 tooth brushes come together
- 2.48 watches come together then almost immediately separate then you back to the other items which separate then she packs a bag and leaves him. This is effective and i feel if i make anything like this i will be extremely happy.

musicandmuffins. Paper Hearts

Habanera and paper hearts is the out one out on musicandmuffins youtube page. This is the only stop motion which is not done using a black pen and injection of colour this as you can see has been done using paper and a pen. The simple idea is something that I'm definitely going to experiment with for my animation.
My favourite bits;
- 0.02 the way you see the first ripped bit of coloured paper and the other one comes appears to the beat of the song very abrupt
- 0.05 the way the word 'my' comes in very quickly again and then 'HEART' straight afterwards
- 0.07 the way the large heart moves repeatedly to the beat back and forth

musicandmuffins Laura Marling. Alas I Cannot Swim

I am not over keen on this meaning of this song but i like the acoustics. The aspects i have picked out which interest me are;
- 0.05 the drawing of the house, sea and sun more going on, more interesting
- 0.10 the extremely messing writing in the right hand side corner of the shot
- 0.56 the dreamy coloured blue river and how its out of the lines
- 1.02 LIFE multicoloured bold letters
- 1.39 the gold stick man which turns different colours very quickly
- 1.59 WORK MORE, EARN MORE, LIVE MORE the black bold outlined lightly coloured writing

This video is slightly more fast pace than the previous two musicandmuffins animations which is an aspect i love because although i love the simplicity i feel i want more movement and maybe a combination of different medias such as photographs and cut outs of magazines. I also love the very messy writing this may be an aspect i also incorporate in my animation.

musicandmuffins Coldplay. Yellow

I love the stop motion of music and muffins. I have studied the video and picked out my favourite aspects;
- 0.38, the girl with the balloon, the starts appear one by one
- 0.49, the musical notes, hearts and stars how they appear one by one
- 1.02, the word YELLOW appears letter by letter in a bold, black and white print
- 1.30, the skecthy flowers, stars and hearts
- 1.39, the small stick man with a massive pink heart
- 3.37, the way the black outlined star is coloured in with yellow in a messy way

The reason these aspects inspire me is because the bold black outline of this video with a selected palette of colour jumps out from the plain white background. I also like the way the video has the words incorporated.

I have started researching!

I looked at music and muffins production YouTube page. The girl who creates these videos is 18 and from England, that is the only information she gives away on YouTube. Although she does have an artwork website and twitter so I'm going to check these out.
I looked at her subscriptions but nothing was very inspiring. I am going to look at her animations and pick out bits that inspire me and what i may incorporate in my video.
