(Chorus the beat of the chorus is much faster so I will quicken up the pace of the animation there is also time inberween each line, the beat is on every word and more I have put a B inbertween the letters where there is more beats.)

Practice

Using the photos I had taken previously and using school software (windows movie maker) I create a minute long clip by setting each photo to be 0.04 seconds long I to create a animation which is 1.14 minutes long I used 208 photos so I worked out that I will roughly need 795 photographs. Next I will have to work the beat along with words, so when I have created my animation it goes and will fit together.

The bits I like and dislike about my practice stop motion animation -

I spoke to my teacher about my ideas and he suggested two videos to me. I said to him that I want it be a piece of art by the end of the song. The tone and style will change though out but in the end it will come together, like a story. This is a video he suggested from me saying that to him. Ukraine's got talent, an artist who manipulates sand to create hundreds of different images.
This women won the Ukraine's got talent, the way she uses sand to create these drawings which evolve and change is amazing. Although I am not creating an animation out of sand the idea is fantastic and the way that it is art tell a story through music.

The other music video in stop motion animation is precious time by the Maccabees, but unfortunately this You Tube clip has disabled embedding, so I can not put the video in to my blog, here is the URL link - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RBL3j5TPvY8 this music video also embodies the artistic qualities and tell a story. This video is very relevant because it uses real life photographs of the band and shows the hands creating the animation. These are two aspects which I am going to incorporate into my animation. There is an enormous problem with this though I can only use photos which I have taken of Lily Allen and the only ones I have are taken from too far away or blurry so they are not going to work, I will talk to my teacher about this in my next lesson, Tuesday.

Like the Maccabees stop motion animation video and all of the music and muffins animation they have no camera angles apart from in the Maccabees video which incorporates an upwards angle when the camera moves to look out of the video. Because I am only photographs the only angles I will have is a downwards shot, I am going to get a camera and tripod for school and get filming over the weekend and the beginning of next week. The reason for using a tripod is so the camera is still to avoid as much movement of the image. I will also tape the piece of paper which is going to develop into a piece of art work like the Ukraine got's talent winner. I am going to use my wooden floor as the background and I use a zoom technique into the paper. This is the only camera technique I am going to have. I feel the contents means that camera angles are not necessary and would detract the attention from the main focus the animation.

Images

I remembered these images that I created when me and Anna were working together, I found them.

The use of the acetate is somethings that I may incorporate into my animation as it shows injection of colour and you can still see the drawings and images underneath, the layer effect gives a sense of time which is an aspect I want for my animation as it shows the build up of work, like a piece of art work and this is the effect I want.

Because I only have a few very poor first hand images of Lily Allen that I have taken from gigs and festivals I am not going to use them. And I am not aloud (because of copy right) to use images of the Internet. Although I can include images of other items such as in the images above, the handbag, flower and rock. I could use images that are relevant such as pictures of a sun and a mirror and the headings of these Newspaper.

I want my animation to show the relationship between real life and the mediated world, the song and all of my ideas shown in this and other blog entry's will hopefully result in a stop motion animation which represents this in a subtle way. The idea of my animation building up and constantly changing like a piece of art but also the media because it is constantly evolving and developing. This attracts aspiring audiences, but also viewers who watch it on face value.

Re-presentation

First of all in class we looked a photograph of a man, women, young girl and two young boys portraying the perfect family image. The people in the image are most probable not related and are professional models. The facial expressions connote happiness and the proxemics show unity and physical closeness. The mother acts as a nurturer as she has her arms around two of the children and the 'father' holding a child, equals in a caring, masculine strength. The framing and angle shot focuses the attention to the characters faces showing that there happiness together is the most important aspect of the group. The fact that the women is dressed in a baggy shirt and trousers which colour co-ordinates with the rest of family suggest that she is not trying to impress any other men and that she is 'owned' by her husband and doesn't feel the need to attract attention. The idea that they are all wearing casual clothing may portray the couple are extremely comfortable with each other and also there lifestyle, picnic's in the park, long walks, dad plays football with the boys. The family are also white which in cultural more representative to the majority of Briton. If the family were of a other ethnicity it would change the audience. The roles of each person are typical to idealistic roles; the female child is holding a soft, cute toy which portrays sweetness and sensitivity. The smallest boy is boisterous and a bit of a handful but controlled by a strong yet gentle father. Both 'parents' seem to be kind and patient. This photograph of a 'family' could be used to sell anything from holidays to sofas to pasta!
The way this image has been constructed is done in all media texts taking every aspect of mise-en-scene into context to create the right impression to the viewer.

'The process by which the media presents the 'real world' - Rayner
IE - the decision over what is chosen to be represented and what is rejected.
- the choices made when organising the representation
- the opinions taken to focus the audience in a certain way

who
what
how
why
(Mr Smith said that he was going to blog this information as he didn't want us to copy it down in the lesson as it would take to long, I have sent him a blog message, once he has put it on I will read, learn and then blog it.)

Gatekeeping - theorist White 1961 -
gatekeepers = the people who are part of the decision making process in the construction of media texts, I am the decision maker in my animation but also ICA my institution.
A fantastic example of this is the show Big Brother, the directors and editors can portray different people in different lights for example if someone likes to shout every once in a while they may only show audiences this side to there personality. This gives the directors and editors the power not the contestants.

Constructionist approach - (and this)

Richard Dyer - The matter of images
'How we are seen determines how we are treated, how we treat others is based on how we see them. How we see them comes from representation.'

After looks at the Mr Smiths power point he gave us a picture of Eva Mendes modeling for Calvin Klien and analysed the images using Laura Mulvey's 'male gaze' theory, Trevor Millum's and Marjorie Furguson's analysis on facial expression.

- dominant
- mysterious
- boobs/cleavigde
- tanned
- healthy
- wet/oil
- garters
- suspenders
- thin
- legs open
- heels/elongates legs
- tall
- shadow = bigger/powerful
- camera angle = reflects power
- black underwear
- sexy
- 1/2 see through pants
- face not important, body is the focus
- see doesn't care about us
- secutery women/business women = men's fantasies

class - meme

In class everyone got into pairs, I went with Stu, then we had to pick an area of Meme that we wanted to cover and create a power point on it to show to the class in Fridays lesson. Me and Stu got the idea slightly wrong so thanks to some guidance from my teacher I research meme in more detail.

Meme is a phrase used to describe a catchphrase or concept that spreads quickly from person to person via the Internet, much like an inside joke. The term is a reference to the concept of memes, although this concept refers to a much broader category of cultural information.

A basic Internet meme is the propagation of a digital file from one person to others using methods available through the Internet, for example; email, blogs, social networking sites, instant messaging. The content often consists of a saying or joke, a rumor, an altered or original image, a complete website, a video clip or animation, or an offbeat news story. An Internet meme can evolve, by chance or through commentary, imitations, and parody versions, or even by collecting news accounts about itself. These memes are often extremely quickly viewed by thousands across the Internet. They are spread organically, voluntarily, and peer to peer, rather than by compulsion, predetermined path, or completely automated means.
Memes can be considered as art.

In the lesson I spoke to Mr Ford and he said that Stu and my presentation was fine, so I will re-blog it. Each group took it in turn to show what they had found on memes they were mostly videos off YouTube, many of which I recognise from videos that I have watched before on YouTube or rude tube, a documentary on Chanel 4.
